The Children’s Ministry takes place during the Sunday morning sermon and is for children aged 2 to 10 (for ages 11+ see the Youth Group page).

We have the following groups for children.:

  • “Discover”: Ages 2-5

  • “Explore”: Ages 6-10

We aim to give the children a firm foundation by teaching them to know and love God’s Word; to learn of His character; and to understand that salvation comes through Jesus Christ.

Through instructional Bible study, crafts, fun games, and memory verses, we seek to convey God’s truth in a lively, interactive, and understandable way.

In addition, there is an unsupervised Stay & Play area available for parents with children under 2yrs.

FAQ - Children’s Ministry

WHEN DOES CHILDREN’S MINISTRY START & END?
All children stay in the main hall for the first half of the service, during the time of worship in song. They will be released for their classes just before the start of the sermon (as announced). Children’s Ministry closes at the end of the service.

DO I NEED TO SIGN MY CHILD IN/OUT?
Yes. You will need to accompany your child to their respective classroom, and sign them in. At the end of the service, you will need to return to the classroom to collect them and sign them out.

HOW WILL I KNOW WHERE TO GO?
The Children’s Ministry Team will be on hand to show you where the classrooms are, and to answer any questions you may have.

CAN MY CHILD STAY WITH ME IN THE MAIN SERVICE?
Yes, you can keep your child with during the sermon if you want to do so.

I HAVE A CHILD UNDER 2, CAN I LEAVE THEM IN CHILDREN’S MINISTRY?
We do not provide a class or childcare for children under 2. There is, however, a Stay & Play area located in one of the Children’s Ministry classrooms, which you are welcome to utilise. The area has soft floor matts, toys for kids, and coffee for mum or dad!

WHAT ABOUT SAFEGUARDING?
We take our safeguarding responsibilities very seriously. Calvary Chapel Oxford is a member of CCPAS (Churches Child Protection Advisory Service), a nationally recognised organisation. All our children’s ministry workers are subject to a DBS check, and undergo annual safeguarding training. We have a Child Protection Policy in place, a copy of which can be viewed upon request.
